The closet was “happening” for 4 days in late July this year. The closet saw an additional 50 families each of July 25, 29, 30 and August 1. We were able to provide uniforms or backpacks/school supplies for 351 children headed back to school. Because of the kindness of some very generous donors, we increased the number of children we were able to give to by about 230% over 2025. We had shirts, pants, shorts and skorts for girls and boys in sizes from 5 to 14. If we were not able to fit a child, they were sent home with a backpack full of school supplies.
Our uniform gurus – Renee Howard and Monique Voelker took on the task of sorting and organizing the donations prior to our distribution days. They and other dedicated volunteers then worked diligently to see any child we were able to fit, went home with a new top and bottom. We also could not have done it without the help and expertise of the registration folks at the Vickery Meadow Pantry.
How exciting the first day of school must have been this year!
Thanks to our donors:
John & Michele Stephens; Fred and Mary Lynn Bangs; Laura and Jim Einspanier; Marquerite and Michael Marz; Carolyn Murray and Carolyn Pettit
